Brian L. Tierney is a Staff Scientist and group leader in the Distributed Systems Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research interests include Network Intrustion Detection Systems (NIDS), monitoring and troubleshooting techniques for widely distributed systems (Grids), and high-speed networking issues. He is co-PI of the SciDAC-2 Center for Enabling Distributed Petascale Science, and is also working on the Bro Instrution Detection System. Mr. Tierney has an M.S. in Computer Science from San Francisco State University, and a B.A. in physics from the University of Iowa. Brian has been at LBNL since 1990.
